Hello there, Novelty Chick here!
I've been wanting to do a fashion blog for some time. I get compliments on my style, questions and requests from friends and strangers to take them shopping and teach them the ropes of fashion!
Honestly, I don't know where anyone gets the idea that I know anything, I don't have any exact style...I'm not just modern, or indie, or vintage...I'm a combination of everything because I wear whatever I like. Personally, I think that as long as you are dressing for your body type (which I have learned how to do through much trial and error, don't worry, you'll catch on too in no time!), wearing what you like will create your own personal style type. I'm eclectic, and just like I don't settle for one genre of music, I can't settle for one genre of fashion.
I'm a shopaholic for sure. You know that movie Confessions of a Shopaholic with the redhead who froze her credit card in a block of ice, pretended to speak Finnish, got a job at a Savings Magazine, and fell for the guy who spoke Prada? Yeah, that story is about me.
Thankfully, I have pretty great (slightly above average) credit and have built it with several store cards. However, I decided to switch to the Dave Ramsey budget and held back tears as my banker supervised me shredding all my credit cards after consolidating my teeny lump of debt. I wanted to nip things in the bud and be completely debt free in the next 2 years.
I live with my cat in an apartment I sometimes struggle to afford (its like that "how many wears is this worth" mindset. If you only wear a $200 cocktail dress once, it costs $200 per wear...same with if you only work out in your apartment complex's provided gym once, its about an extra mandatory payment of $100 per month), work several jobs to pay for my tendency to splurge, and have started learning to shop sale racks and thrift stores, how to pinch pennies, save money and STILL be on top of the latest fashions.
BUT...you can still wear the latest threads, look hot, and have money left over to eat (I mean, really, priorities are a must). And I'm here to show you how.
